Do It For You
“Self care” is a term that has gained a lot of popularity by making sure people are checking in with themselves and making sure to love themselves. A lot of the time we are harder on yourself than we should be. We treat our friends with respect, shower them with love and encouragement, but when it comes to looking within, that love and respect can go out the window.
Everybody is different so everybody’s needs are also different, but here are some self care tips in no particular order that a lot of people enjoy.
1. Turn off the phone.
These days, the phone can be the biggest source of stress. It brings emails, calls and texts some of which can be great, but a lot of which can be stressful. Thinking back to 10 years ago, we as a human race were not glued to these screens as we are now. Sometimes the best thing to do is to just turn everything off whether it be phone or mind, and just be.
2. Clean your room and make your bed.
This one varies a lot depending on the type of person you are, but I know personally I love when my room is clean and my sheets and blankets are still warm from the dryer. It feels like a million dollars just climbing into bed to unwind.
3. Clean yourself: shower, wash your face, do skincare
A feeling of being refreshed and clean is always nice. Take those extra 20 minutes in the shower to do a mask, sing that extra song when you sound oh so good with the acoustics. Take that uninterrupted time for yourself to just feel the warmth and close your eyes.
